How to Kick Higher: 7-Day Free Workout Routine for Martial Arts / Taekwondo
Do you want higher kicks, but aren’t sure what drills and stretches will help you get your kicks up higher? This is one of the most asked questions from Martial Artists on my channel. How to Kick Higher for Martial Arts: Day 1
Day 1 starts off with several stretches- make sure you do a really good warmup to get your body ready & avoid injuries. Warmup ideas include stretching, jump rope, jumping jacks, squats, etc.
How to Kick Higher for Martial Arts: Day 2
Feeling sore? That means it’s working! Day 2 continues with stretches- starting off with leg swings. Leg swings are awesome because they are a type of dynamic stretching to help improve your flexibility while moving like you do in kicks.
How to Kick Higher for Martial Arts: Day 3
Day 3 has one of my favorite drills to get higher kicks. You can use a belt, band, or anything similar for the Belt Kicks drill. This drill is awesome cause it allows you to push your flexibility while controlling your balance when practicing your kick.
How to Kick Higher for Martial Arts: Day 4
Kick Holds are another great way to start attaching all the pieces together. Now that you’ve had some time to work on leg control & flexibility, you get to add balance to the mix! Hope you’re enjoying the workouts so far!
How to Kick Higher for Martial Arts: Day 5
You’re almost there! You are now 5 days in and just have a couple more workouts to get through til you get a break day– nice work!! The last drill on this day are Speed Kicks- which you should try and do as many as you can of to push your muscles til you feel the burn!
How to Kick Higher for Martial Arts: Day 6
Day 6 is all about STRETCHING to get those higher kicks. Take your time, make sure you do a good warmup, and hold each stretch while breathing.
How to Kick Higher for Martial Arts: Day 7
You’ve made it! Depending on how you’re feeling, today is a day to rest or celebrate. If you’re feeling up for it, grab a friend and a camera and head over to a park to shoot some cool pics of your kicks! If not, kick back and get some rest- your muscles will thank you!
